Honey Baked Ham: Where to Buy and How to Serve This Tasty Dish

Honey + Ham = Heaven

Julia Williams
Ah…the sweet aroma and delicious flavor of a honey baked ham. Doesn't it make your mouth water just thinking of it?

A honey baked ham is without question the most tender, best tasting ham you can serve. Whether you're planning a formal sit-down dinner, a holiday feast or a casual buffet, you can't go wrong with a honey baked ham. Your guests will clamor for seconds (and thirds), and you won't have to worry about what to do with the leftovers, because there won't be any!

The Honey Baked Ham Company

It all began with a ham. And not just any ham, but a premium bone-in ham cured in a secret marinade of spices and then slowly smoked over hardwood chips. The crowning touch was a unique, crackling honey glaze that produced a sweet, one-of-a-king taste sensation.

But Harry Hoenselaar, founder of the Honey Baked Ham Company, thought there should be a way to cut the ham into perfectly even slices, yet leave the meat attached to the bone. There wasn't, so the industrious Harry invented his own machine, and the rest is history.

Honey Baked Ham opened their first store in 1957, and now have about 150 stores in 15 states. For more than forty years, they've provided scores of satisfied customers their signature product, the Spiral Sliced Honey Baked Ham, as well as other wonderful gourmet products, including Honey Glazed Ham and Honey Baked Turkey.

The company has a reputation for making special occasions even more memorable, and everyday meals extraordinary. Their high standards of quality have created a loyal following-in fact, in the days before a holiday such as Easter or Christmas, the lines at their retail stores are out the door.

Buy your Honey Baked Ham online

Why fight the crowds at the company's retail store when you can shop online 24/7 from the comfort of home? The company's website is very easy to navigate and includes entertaining tips, serving suggestions and addresses for the store nearest you. You can also request a catalog and check out job openings.

Once you've tasted the original Honey Baked Ham, you'll see why they're not only great to serve your guests, but make excellent gifts too. Be sure to check out the Honey Baked Ham gift selection when you're online, and if you can't make up your mind, a gift certificate is always appreciated. Whatever you decide, you can buy with confidence because the Honey Baked Ham Company guarantees your satisfaction 100%.

How to serve a honey baked ham

The Honey Baked Ham Company sells fully cooked and ready to serve ham. For the best flavor, they recommend serving the ham at room temperature. If you heat the ham, do it at a low temperature and heat only the slices you plan to serve instead of the entire ham, as repeated heatings will dry it out and alter the flavor.

Honey baked ham for budget-minded consumers

Many people say there's simply no substitute for the premium hams from the Honey Baked Ham Company. While that may be true, if you're on a strict budget but still crave the sweet taste of a honey baked ham, you can make one yourself that'll taste good and cost a little less.

First, make sure you buy a good quality ham. The easiest, most convenient way is to shop online and have the ham sent directly to you. Then, choose your favorite recipe using the ingredients that appeal to you.

If you make your own honey ham, it won't taste identical to one from the Honey Baked Ham Company (their recipe is a closely guarded family secret, after all,) but it'll still be a very tasty ham that you and your dinner guests will enjoy.

Make your next family celebration extra-special with a delicious honey baked ham. Company will be sitting at the dinner table waiting for you to serve it, from the moment they walk in the door and smell the mouth-watering aroma.

We got a 7 lb.ham as a Christmas present and placed it in the freezer waiting to serve for Easter dinner. It is still in its sealed foil cover. Has freezing it changed the flavor... is it still good to eat... do the cooking instructions noted by Julia Williams still valid... how long will it take to thaw... and finally... will 7 lbs serve 15 adults?

    Appreciate your response ASAP.

Please provide specifics on warming up to room temp - an hour? 2 hours? Leave it wrapped in foil?
