Honey has been used in skin care since ancient times for its visible moisturizing and clarifying properties. Today's medical research has revealed even more beneficial properties in honey, making it a popular ingredient in both homemade and commercial skin care product
Moisturizer
Honey is a humectant, meaning it helps attract and retain moisture. Mix two tablespoons of honey with two teaspoons of milk, rub it on your face, leave for 10 minutes, and rinse. This will help your skin feel more soft and supple, and give it more elasticity.
Antioxidants
Honey contains antioxidants that can slow the aging process of skin by fighting free radicals. Antioxidants also help protect the skin from the sun's UV rays.
Antibacterial
Honey has antibacterial properties because of its high sugar content, low protein content, and high acidity. Honey can help heal cuts and burns on the face by keeping them moist and bacteria free.
Acne
The moisturizing and antibacterial properties of honey make it a useful treatment for minor acne. For spot treatment, first soften the blemish by mixing ¼ teaspoon of salt into ½ cup warm water, soaking the mixture into a cotton ball, and pressing the cotton ball into the blemish for several minutes. Then dab honey onto the blemish, leave for 10 minutes before rinsing.
Facial Cleanser
Honey can be used like a normal cleanser. Rinse your face with warm water, massage a spoon full of honey into the skin with your fingers, and then rinse.
Facial Mask
To use honey in a mask, mix a tablespoon into your favorite facial mask recipe. Common mask ingredients include egg whites or avocado, with flour to form a stiffer paste.
