I would truly recommend a trip to the central coast of California. There you will find Pismo California. A tourist town of sorts surrounded by beautiful green hills and a pleasing coastline. This city is perfect for a honeymoon retreat and will have you and your spouse in a wonderful mood.
Pismo may seem as an odd choice but here is why I believe otherwise: No worries of drug wars (Mexico), No worries of your spouse falling overboard (cruise), No crazy tourist town prices (Hawaii), No passport hassles, and depending on where your coming from, you may not even need to fly. Instead, enjoy a bonding road trip and save the air fare for something more exciting.
From my experience, the biggest concern is always which hotel/motel or resort you plan on staying at. For this, I would recommend the SeaVenture Resort. This resort is set nicely at the end of the beach. It gives quick access to the beach and you will also be within walking distance to all that Pismo has to offer. The SeaVenture has packages you can choose from for your stay. Each package includes different deals and each package will transform your room in to a different love nest of sorts.
Many of the rooms at this resort come with a private spa on your own personal balcony. A stocked bar with different types of beverages, including local wines. Bath robes that are very soft and nice to lounge around in. Feather top beds that will have you sinking into relaxation while the fireplace crackles at your feet. And don't forget the SeaVenture restaurant that provides a comforting view of the Pacific while you dine on fabulous menu items such as, fresh fish and voluptuous burgers that are full of taste. Oh, don't forget about their full bar.
For more information on the SeaVenture you can check out their website at www.seaventure.com. I have stayed here two times and I have never had anything but fabulous service inside and out.
Now to address the second important thing to any trip, what can we do once there? This is easily answered when looking at the long list of to do items in this area. For the fiery newlyweds I would truly recommend going on a wine tasting excursion. The central coast is home to award winning wines that will be sure to have you and your loved one enjoying some of the countries finest wines. Check out this site for more info www.sanluisobispo.winecountry.com .
You and your spouse can also enjoy a romantic horse back ride along the coast. There are different packages for this as well but for the most part this can be very affordable and definitely memorable. I would recommend the early morning ride that will have you up a little after sun rise and you and your loved one will be able to enjoy mostly empty beaches. This will allow for a certain intimacy that will leave you warm and fuzzy inside. By visiting www.caladventures.com/jjriding.htm you can find times and prices as well as coupons.
If horse back riding is not your thing, don't worry. Luckily you are within 20 Min's of Hearst Castle. This castle is one of few castles in the country. It was home to William Randolph Hearst and features fine art as well as breath taking architecture. Tours are available most times and most days and are also very affordable and worth every penny. This will give you much to talk about and has great photo ops. Check out www.hearstcastle.org and get your sport reserved as they may fill up quick.
Other things you can do if you have more time is: Pacific Ocean boat tours, deep sea fishing, shopping, take a scenic drive up the famous and beautiful Hwy 1, hummer sand dune tour, hiking, and more!
One more thing for those of you who love a good bowl of clam chowder or just great food. You have to make a stop by the Splash Cafe. This is one of my all time favorite places to eat. They have great food and a great price. This is truly a famous landmark for all those who know of it. You can thank me later.
I have probably missed some stuff but believe me, you will enjoy your time there. Its truly one of those places that give you all you need to enjoy a truly special occasion as your honeymoon.
