Honeymoon Ideas: Outdoor Adventures

Have an Outdoor Adventure for Your Honeymoon

Jean Marquit
Like so many other things to do with marriage today, many people are heading out to do something unique. This is especially true for those who love the outdoors. You don't have to spend your honeymoon cooped on in a luxury hotel or lolling about on a beach. While some people really enjoy these pastimes, others find that they get bored too quickly. This where an outdoor adventure honeymoon can add spice -- and even romance -- to the brand new marriage.

Exotic locations for an outdoor honeymoon

Exotic doesn't have to mean a beach in Thailand. It can also mean a tour of the country's interior. Jungles in Africa, South America and Asia all provide great exploration opportunities. You can go on guided hikes through some famous jungles. Additionally, many of these locations have great rivers. Take river rides. You can even go on exotic whitewater rafting trips.

Desert honeymoon

While the desert may not seem romantic, there are plenty of remote areas that offer stunning scenery. The Australian Outback offers several chances to see stunning sunrises and sunsets, as well enjoy some glimpses of aboriginal life. You can see amazing rock formations and stunning dunes in the Middle East and in parts of Asia. Such outdoor adventures are punctuated with oases of paradise.

Ski honeymoon

This is a great honeymoon choice for a fall or winter wedding. Ski locations in Europe can offer a sophisticated and challenging honeymoon. You can even take a ski honeymoon in Hawaii. The northernmost Big Island has a tall mountain that is covered in snow. This offers a chance for you ski and enjoy a tropical paradise.

Mountain honeymoon

Mountaineers can enjoy a variety of mountain honeymoon ideas. The Andes offer an amazing journey to some of the most rugged peaks in the world. Some have even planned a honeymoon well ahead of time so that they could do some climbing in the Himalayas. There are all sorts of mountains all over the world, from the peak in New Zealand that served as "Mount Doom" to crags of norther Scotland.

Budget honeymoon

You don't have to travel to distant lands to have a great outdoor themed honeymoon. In fact, if you want more seclusion (without the intrusion of tour guides and other people), choosing to stay near home may be a good choice. And if you don't want to spend a great deal on your honeymoon, it is a good choice to stick to outdoor adventures that you can have close by.

There are many great outdoor adventures to be had in the United States. Whitewater rafting can be found in states from Virginia to Idaho to California. Additionally, it is possible to find great skiing opportunities from New Hampshire to Colorado. There are vast deserts of amazing and colorful rock formations in Arizona and Utah, and you can get lost in the forested wilderness of the Ozarks and the Adirondaks.

No matter your budget, it is possible to enjoy a unique honeymoon full of outdoor adventures.
