Honeysuckle Dreams

Louisa Burgess
The sweet smell of Honeysuckle
colors my dreams all summer long
sometimes faint sometimes strong

Honeysuckle vines and bushes
fragrant and wildly grown
point the way to places unknown

Pretty blooms like bells about to ring
with nectar like tears surprisingly sweet
for months it's a special treat

Hummingbirds and butterflies land
poking and taking it seems
the sunny juices inside but not my dreams
