Honoring Birth Mothers in Tucson, Arizona

Have you ever wondered what Mother's Day must be like for women who have placed children for adoption? Perhaps you are a birth mother yourself, and the day comes and goes for you with no phone call, no special card, and no celebratory brunch. Did you know that the Saturday before Mother's Day is Birth Mother's Day? In Tucson, Arizona birth mothers will be honored on Birth Mother's Day at the annual Birth Mother's Luncheon.

Every year on Birth Mother's Day, Christian Family Care Agency, in conjunction with several other local agencies, honors birth mothers for the loving act of placing a child for adoption, while acknowledging their role in that child's life. By choosing life for her child, and by choosing to place that child in a loving home, she is giving an amazing gift. Not only to her child, whose name she might never know, whose face she might never see; but also to a family who might otherwise never know the joy of raising a child.

Christian Family Care Agency, along with Women's Pregnancy Centers, Catholic Community Services, Arizona's Children Association, Oasis Adoptions and Attorney Scott Myers, will be hosting this yearly event to honor birth mothers who have placed children for adoption. This year the luncheon will be held on Saturday, May 10th from 11:30am to 1:30pm at El Parador Restaurant, 2744 E. Broadway.

Recording artist and adoptee Nate Huss will be performing, "Your Own", a very touching song he wrote in which he thanks his birth mother for the beautiful gift of life that she so selflessly gave him. You can listen to "Your Own" on Nate's MySpace page by clicking here. Adoptive mother Julie Nicholas will be speaking as well; the topic will be "Giving Life, Giving Love, Giving Hope".

If you would like to help, Christian Family Care Agency suggests three ways: pray for this event and for the birth mothers who will be attending; inform someone you know who would benefit from this event and encourage her to attend; or make a financial donation to Christian Family Care Agency to support this luncheon.

Birth mothers throughout Tucson and Southern Arizona are encouraged to attend this luncheon in their honor. The lunch is free to birth mothers and a guest; additional guests are welcome to attend, but will be asked to pay $13.00 each to cover the cost of their meal. Childcare is not available.
