Once you get the box from Vonage you can hook it up. Tech support is always available 24 hours a day if you have trouble, but really it's quite simple to install yourself. The connection is from the Modem to the Vonage to the router or computer. All will be hooked up by wires.
Step 1: There should be 2 wires in the box to hook up the devices. The blue wire in the box will go from the modem from your provider to the blue port on the Vonage device. There may already be a wire in your Modem that runs from your Modem to your computer, you remove that wire and replace it with the blue wire plug one end into the Modem and the other end into your Vonage Device.
Step 2: The Yellow wire that came in your installation kit will come from the back of the Vonage device and go into a router if you have a router with more than one computer. If you don't have a router that Yellow wire will go directly into the computer. There will probably be a cable wire in there that was plugged into the Modem that you unplugged in step 1. If you have a router, you will want to take the yellow cable and go from the yellow port in the back of the Vonage device and plug into the Router instead of the computer. You will then plug the computers into the router.
Step 3: Now since you have all the wires hooked up you can now reboot the network. Unplug the power cord for the Modem, and the Vonage, and shut down the computer. To bring the devices back on you will want to plug in the Modem first, and wait for all the lights to come on. Once the lights are all on with the Modem you can plug in the Vonage Device. It may take a few minutes for the device to load up, this is normal. When the power light on the device is solid, and the phone light is solid you can test the phone that you plugged in the back of the device to see if you have a dial tone. Once you have a dial-tone, you can turn your computer back on and make sure that you can bring up a webpage.
That is all there is to hook up the Vonage Device. It really is quite simple and easy to do. But if you feel that you are unable to do it alone, you can call tech support anytime, and in many areas they do have professional installers that will come out and install it for you. With this hook up you will only have connection for one phone, but you can hook other phones in the house by doing just a few more steps to undo the wires from your previous phone carrier outside.
