Every spring horse enthusiasts from Indiana and surrounding states come together to enjoy the Hoosier Horse Fair and Expo that is hosted by The Indiana Horse Council. The event brings many vendors and activities for equine lovers to enjoy and offers the opportunity to see some of the most beautiful and well trained horses that you could ever see in one area. The expo is large enough that the entire fairgrounds property is used for the show.

This year's Hoosier Horse Fair and Expo will be held April 9-11, 2010. The show will open Friday April 9,2010 at 10a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday hours are 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. There will be plenty of activities for all ages and many sights to see and activities to take part in so there will be something for everyone in the family.

The highlights for this year are the Equine Masters Championship, the Purdue University Polo Exhibition, the Cowboy Mounted Shooters, the Extreme Trail Challenge and a Kids Stick Horse Barrel Race sponsored by country music station, WFMS. All of these activities are well -worth watching and taking part in so plan now to make your way to one of these highlighted events.

There are many clinics for horse lovers to take part in and some that will be more involved than just a horse owner may want to take part in. Clinics will include the following:

Horsemanship - presented by Ken McNabb and family
Dressage - presented by Lendon Gray
Hunter/Jumper - presented by Nick Karazissis
Mules - presented by Steve Edwards
Showmanship - presented by Dan Gpunewald
Horsemanship - presented by Dr. Suzanne Myers
Driving - presented by Sterling Graburn

Entertainment will not be a problem either for the weekend as there will be shows and competitions going on throughout the entire weekend in one of the many buildings located on the fairgrounds. You will be able to enjoy the following shows and competitions:

North American All-Star Draft 6- Horse Hitch Competition
Hoosier Ranch Rodeo
Ranch Horse Competition
4-H Judging
4-H Versatility
Groom and Clean Competition
Dunkin Donkeys
Hendricks County 4-H Color Guard
Breed Demonstrations
Parade of Stallions
Radio Disney Kids Corral

Some of these shows, such as the Parade of Stallions will be shown everyday at some time throughout the day, but some will only be one day of the weekend so be sure to get a schedule when you arrive so that you know what is going on and where as there will be shows in different buildings at different times.

The Indiana Blood Center will host a blood drive on Saturday and Sunday outside of the Pepsi Coliseum so be sure to stop by if you would like to donate some blood to help the Blood Center out. Also, the Susan B. Komen foundation for breast cancer will be taking donations for their charity throughout the weekend.

Horse lovers, beginners, experienced riders and anyone involved in the equine world will enjoy this great experience so mark your calendars and be ready to converge on the Indiana State Fairgrounds on April 9-11,2010 and enjoy the many activities that the Indiana Horse Council has planned for this years' Hoosier Horse Fair and Expo.
