Hooter's Poker Room Should Stick to Wings

The Poker Room at the Hooter's Casino is Not as Good as the Restaurant's Wings

A new arrival to the Las Vegas poker scene is the poker room at the Hooters Casino. Another player in the long line of themed casinos, this one began its trek into the gaming business at the beginning of 2006. While Hooters might specialize in wings and their waitresses may be hot, that company most certainly struck out when it came to producing a good poker room. After spending a very forgettable hour in the Hooters poker room, I feel like they should owe me something for all of that lost time.

The biggest problem with the Hooters poker room is one that I noticed upon my arrival there and is something that almost every player with a brain should complain about. It is, simply put, too tight of a space in which to operate. No one likes to be sitting in a chair where you can't move a couple feet either way. People really hate this when they are trying to play poker. The room has a nice look to it and everything is new, but that is lost on most players who simply cannot get over the cramped space. All in all, this poker room is not equipped to handle more than a handful of tables at one time.

As far as poker play goes, this room offers a standard $1/$2 no-limit game and a more advanced $2/$4 game. Most players will opt for the lower limit game and this poker room often struggles to produce a full game. For the most part, this poker room struggles with fielding full games because of its location. It sits adjacent to the MGM Grand, which has produced one of the Strip's most popular poker rooms since its renovation. When there are games going on at the Hooters poker room, they play is pretty average. A good mix of decent players and amateurs make their way into the room, all looking to be served by waitresses with above average endowments.

Those waitresses may be good looking, but they never seem to be around. Every time I needed a drink, I couldn't seem to find them. When they did come around, they were fun to look at and pretty quick with the drinks. All in all, the staff at the Hooters poker room is hard to find because they don't distinguish themselves. For a company that prides itself on having some of the most noticeable staff in America, they have no idea how to operate a poker room.
