Hoover BH50015 LINX Cordless Handheld and Stick Vacuum Cleaner Review

Jamie Cortez
The Hoover Platinum cordless system includes a hand vac with retractable attachments for home and car and a stick vac with a fingertip on-off brush roll for cleaning carpets, rugs and hard surface floors. They come with a charger, an 18-volt interchangeable lithium-ion battery that can power both cleaners so you can rapidly switch from one cleaning task to another.

Pros

One of the best things about these pair of cordless is that they use interchangeable lithium-ion battery. Other cordless vacs use Ni-cad batteries that lose power as they clean. Linx's lithium-ion batteries maintain fade-free power throughout the entire running cycle. Plus they hold their charges much longer than other battery technologies

Both the hand vac and stick vac has battery fuel gauge that uses bright LED light to show how much power is left. It also tells you when it is time to charge or recharge the battery. While Ni-cad batteries can take a whole day to recharge the lithium-ion battery for Linx can be fully recharged in just 3 hours.

Since the battery is removable you can store the unit in the closet while you charge the batteries. No other cordless vacuums offer this interchangeability and flexibility. The battery and charger has sleek attractive design that you can keep out in the open. In a glance the battery look like a sleek external hard drive.

As for suction power, both of these cordless vacs excels in sucking in dirt, dust and crumbs from your carpet, bare floor, upholstery and furniture. The stick vac has edge cleaning feature so you can clean areas close to walls and base boards. The dirt cups for both vac are easy to empty and clean.

Other good feature worth mentioning is the retractable crevice tool and dusting brush. They make it easy for you to clean tight spaces.

Cons

The Linx cordless hand and stick vac are expensive vacuums. The handheld vac cost about $125 and the stick vac is about $169 in most stores.

Bagless vacuums like the Linx are no good for people with allergies and asthma. When you clean the dust cup some of the dust will just go back to the air you breathe.

And finally, it's the noise. The Linx cordless are not the quietest vacuum around. They are powerful but also loud.

Conclusion

If you can afford spending over $300 for a pair of cordless vacuum just buy them. They do have minor flaws but their cleaning ability and all their useful features outweigh those flaws by far.
