Hoping for a 'Who Dat' License Plate? Well, Your Wish May Soon Be Granted

The Who Dat Nation Will Be Represented Everywhere

It's been almost a month now since the New Orleans Saints won Super Bowl XLIV and became champions of the world, but fans don't really want to stop celebrating just yet. The parties may be over and the fanfare may be dying now, but that doesn't mean you can't still show your support all the way through to next season and beyond.

Representative Rickey Hardy, D-Lafayette is looking to be able to allow Saints' fans to show their support in ways never yet possible and that's with a personalized license plate. Hardy is looking to get a bill passed that will allow for the creation of a "Who Dat Nation" license tag which will be available to all.

Hardy's House Bill 55 for the "Who Dat Nation" tag is the first to be filed in advance of March 29's opening of the legislative session. It appears Hardy had asked the House to go through with passing the bill before the Saints even defeated the Indianapolis Colts in Miami on February 7.

The design of the plate would be designed to feature an image of the Superdome on the left with the phrase "Who Dat Nation" centered on the bottom of the tag. Inclusion of the fleur-de-lis is also being discussed but there is no confirmation on that just yet. Don't go thinking you wouldn't be able to afford these tags either because it would cost you just an extra $3.50 on top of the normal cost of your tag. That sum would help with the creation of license plates.

Hardy said he feels that there will be no issues with his design or the tag itself because the "state owns the Dome. I remember as a kid my grandmother saying 'Who dat?' when someone came knocking on her door."

In order for Hardy's bill to be produced, he would need 1,000 signatures.

Personally I think this is a tremendous idea and find no fault or harm in it whatsoever. It allows even those with the strictest of budgets to afford the tag if they so choose. Kind of nice too seeing that Hardy is not out looking for the state to make a tremendous profit here and giving all fans a chance to revel in the championship won by the fantastic team of 2009.
