Some friends of mine decided to take a road trip from Austin, Texas to Seattle, Washington. Crazy, right? 40 hours of driving later, we arrived. None of us really had any idea what to do when we got here. Our course of action was to ask some of the locals what they recommend. We were directed to Capitol Hill. We got off the bus too early and had nearly given up hope when we found this charming little area with some shops and stuff. Being that it was about 6:30 pm, we decided to stop for a pint at this little pub we passed. The Hopvine Pub.

We walked in, and the place was pretty crowded considering it was a Monday night. We were greeted almost as soon as we walked in, and the wait staff was ever so attentive. Despite how busy they were, we procured a seat within a few minutes. The Happy hour deals we just had to jump on. We each got a different kind of beer and a different kind of appetizer. Let me break down this overall experience for you in a few different categories.

Service:
The server brought us our beer in record time. He was very knowledgeable when we asked for recommendations and comparisons. He was also super attentive. He wasn't constantly asking if we needed anything, but he also wasn't unreachable. We would get a beer and it would be on the table in moments. Quick, pleasant, and good at recommendations.

Product:
The food was delicious, I would recommend the garlic knots for an appetizer. They've got a little kick to them! The hummus had a nice mint touch to it, and the bruschetta had a delicious sauce with it. The beer was also quite good. I don't generally go for the hoppy beers, but I figured I would give the recommendation a shot. I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised! Quite delicious!

Vibe:
As for the setup of the pub, I guess I'm not used to this, but it was well-lit and really clean! I was surprised but not in an unwelcome way. The decor was fantastic, very personable and welcoming. On one of the walls, there was a huge collage of photos... I'm sure there was a reason for the pictures, but I didn't really get a chance to find out what it was. I was impressed overall. I'm not from Washington, far from it, but I felt really welcome at the Hopvine Pub. Also, I noticed that they have pub quiz! Can't go wrong with that! I wish I was here long enough to check it out!

So, if you're heading to Seattle and want a break from the touristy part of town, head up to Capitol Hill and check out the Hopvine Pub!
