Horrifying Hydrocodone Side Effects

After suffering weeks of pain with a horrible toothache, I went to the dentist, only to find out I needed a root canal. Lucky for me, I have an "in" with my dentist and they managed to fit me in right then to have the procedure done. Once he was finished extracting the infected root, he prescribed me Vicodin and sent me on my way. Little did I know, Vicodin is just the name brand of hydrocodone.

About six hours later, the Novocain they'd given me during the procedure wore off and I was in a major amount of pain. I took only half of the prescribed amount of hydrocodone. Figuring the pain killer would get rid of the pain, I went back to my office to work and after awhile I felt better. Then suddenly, I felt really dizzy and my vision was blurry. It was unlike anything I have ever experienced, so I laid down on the couch, thinking that maybe if I rested for a bit it would go away, but it didn't. It got worse, my vision blacked out, I couldn't see anything, my entire body began to shake and I felt very nauseous. In a blur, I found my way down the hallway to the bathroom, where I proceeded to vomit numerous times.

After I was through getting sick though, I felt like I could fly. It seemed as though I was high and felt like I could do anything, it was as if I hadn't been sick at all just minutes before and the excessive energy was almost scary. I had more energy than I knew what to do with.

According to Wikipedia, hydrocodone "common side effects include dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea, drowsiness, euphoria, vomiting, and constipation. Some less common side effects are allergic reaction, blood disorders, changes in mood, mental fogginess, anxiety, lethargy, difficulty urinating, spasm of the ureter, irregular or depressed respiration, and rash."

For me, these negative side effect's far outweigh any benefit the medication provides, but if it's necessary for you to take them, be sure to remember that they are highly addictive, so use with caution!
