Horror Fans Rejoice: 'Hollywood Ghost Hunters' Pilot Shot

In January, an episode of "Ghost Adventures" on the Travel Channel featured a team of paranormal investigators that called themselves the Hollywood Ghost Hunters. What made this group unique was that it was made up of three individuals that are known by many devout horror movie fans. The group recently shot a pilot episode to fish around to different networks. While covering the Motor City Nightmares horror convention and film festival, I had the opportunity to speak with both Kane Hodder and Danielle Harris about the show.

The original core of the Hollywood Ghost Hunters that appeared on "Ghost Adventures" was made up of three members. Kane Hodder is best known for having played Jason Voorhees in four of the "Friday the 13th" movies and has played Victor Crowley in "Hatchet" and "Hatchet II." Rick McCallum is a veteran stuntman who has worked on numerous horror movies. R.A. Mihailoff is known for having played Leatherface in "Texas Chainsaw Massacre III." Danielle Harris, the reigning Scream Queen from many of the "Halloween" movies and "Hatchet II," was added to the group to give a female's perspective.

According to Hodder, what will separate the Hollywood Ghost Hunters from other paranormal research groups is the interaction between the members of the group. He pointed out that "if you have a ghost hunting show and there is no paranormal activity happening at the time, it can tend to be kind of boring. With our show, I believe that it will be fun to watch whether there is stuff going on or not just because of how we are."

Danielle explained that she heard about how her friends were ghost hunting. She pointed out that the entire group was made up of guys, and suggested that maybe she should go with them. The core, along with the other members of the group, invited her to come with them.

At the point that we spoke, she had been with them on a few investigations, including the investigation for the pilot. She let me know that the guys had fun putting her in scary situations since she is, as she states, "afraid of everything, even the dark." In the end, though, she knows that she will ultimately be safe with, "her boys," behind her.

There are many horror movie fans and paranormal show fans that are hoping that this project gets picked up by one of the networks. While there are a number of paranormal investigation shows out there, Kane and his crew hopes that their unique chemistry will give fans something new and original.
