Horror Film Hostess Elvira Returns with Announcement: "I Am NOT a Witch"

I recall being a very young child when I first saw the buxom horror film hostess Elvira on television or in a film. While I admit that her large chest was the first thing that ingrained into my memory of her. I eventuality got around to watching her skewer bad late night horror films and began taking an interest in other late night horror film hosts like Bob Wilkins while somehow appreciating the "misunderstood" genius of Manos: Hands of Fate. But in the later years, Elvira eventually disappeared from the horror hosting with nary a farewell episode or a goodbye that I was aware of. Then her appearances became cameos or parodies.

During my adult years when I began hitting sci-fi conventions, I began meeting these horror hosts in person like Mr. Lobo of Cinema Insomnia. I even ran into Elvira herself, but she was dressed as her real self Cassandra Peterson. While waiting in line for her autograph I heard word that she was popping back into the late night horror host racket. I took that with a grain of salt.

But then I received an email from who I assume was Elvira's publicist. Earlier last week, Jon Stewart compared Elvira to Delaware's senate Republican Party candidate Christine O'Donnell who in turn was compared to a witch. In response, Elvira posted her own campaign ad denying that she was a witch.

"I'm you," she declares in straight voice, "except with bigger (bleep)." She then declares her war against bad movies playing at night just like her good old horror film hosting days. Even though I never saw the original Jon Stewart segment that prompted this viral video response, watching Elvira acknowledge her return to skewering B-movies late at night got me curious to see where and when she was doing such. A quick Google search brought me to her website where Elvira's Movie Macabre is prominently featured. Checking local listings, I see her airing in my Bay Area neck of the woods at 1AM on KOFY on late Saturday nights and a variety of other nationally syndicated networks. Well played, Elvira. It was a heck of a way to reintroduce people back to your show-even if it took a month to wait for a perfect moment like Jon Stewart's bit to respond.

And now other horror movie hosts are responding to Elvira's response. With bigger cleavage.

It's kind of shocking anyone would think she was one.
