Horse Named Royal Wedding Wins Race on William and Kate's Big Day

While William and Kate were celebrating the relief of having made it through getting hitched without a hitch, the connections of a horse named Royal Wedding (and a lot of bettors) were definitely sharing in their happiness.

Just hours after William and Kate were pronounced husband and wife, a 9-year-old horse named Royal Wedding won a steeplechase race at Fontwell Park in England by a whopping 12 lengths. The horse must have been feeling the good vibes from all the royal wedding well-wishers across the world when he won so easily, while bettors got a good 4-1 price on the horse. However, bookmakers weren't so happy with result -- some had to pay out millions because Royal Wedding won.

It's fitting that something special happened in the world of horse racing on Will and Kate's big day, considering the fact that a jockey is responsible in part for keeping the couple together. Sam Waley-Cohen, who upset the King George VI Stakes with a big win earlier this year, invited the two to a party in 2007 while they were broken up. The two had hardly seen each other since splitting several months earlier, but sparks flew when they found themselves in the same place. And of course the rest is now history.

But not all royal wedding horse news is so happy -- during the royal procession after the wedding, the massive crowd excited a horse that reared up and unseated its rider, bolting right in front of the carriage that the newlyweds were riding in. Luckily the horse was eventually caught and no one was injured.

So it seems that horses also had a big day full of excitement on Will and Kate's big day, but don't expect the princess bride to be hanging around the magnificent animals beloved by so many royals anytime soon -- she's reportedly allergic to them.
