Horse Owner Raided by SPCA Appears in Court

Linda Crystal
73 Horses were taken from Beth Hoskins Farm in March of this year. No small endeavor. People came as far as Rochester to help haul neglected horses. I gave you a small preview of what it's like to feed, water and care for 73 horses in my first article. It's a small fortune.

Then 70 of the horses are going to foster homes reported by SPCA in April.

On May 26th in the Town of Aurora Court, Beth Hoskins appeared dressed to the nines. Yes she used to be a model. I overheard a comment that, "maybe if she spent some of that money on the horses, she wouldn't be in court". Hoskins said her horses are "worth 2 million dollars and she loves them and wants them back".

While this is a court matter there are many things we the public do not know and won't find out until the court dates are completed. One thing is certain, those horses were neglected or the SPCA wouldn't have taken them. On the video from wivb.com, the spokeswoman for the SPCA said that Hoskins had all 53 cats locked up. What's up with that? Barn cats usually roam free over barns and property to help keep rodents down. So why lock them up? Also SPCA reports that the filth was also in the home.

The SPCA has also filed a civil suit against Hoskins for the cost of care for all the animals. The care exceeds $100,000 at this point. On the SPCA link below there is an outline of the care that they did on the animals. It's extensive.

Hoskin's attorney says that Beth Hoskins is innocent and that she should get her horses back.

In the meantime donations are needed to help the animals. Hay, feed, your time and monetary donations are needed. Contact Lindsey Styborski at the Ensminger Rd location of the SPCA, Buffalo Chapter.
