(These rhyming lines may be sung to the tune of the familiar children's folk song, "We Went to the Animal Fair.")
We went to the Midwest Horse Fair.
Equines of all kind were there.
The Freesians, they danced;
The Arabians pranced,
And Percherons did their share.
The Mustangs learned to train,
While horses Baroque had no rein.
A stagecoach went by
As the jumpers flew high,
And tack shoppers went on campaign.
Can't wait to go back next year.
Sign in with the auctioneer.
I'm saving my cash
For a chestnut or ash,
To ride like a Musketeer.
We went to the Midwest Horse Fair.
Equines of all kind were there.
They finished their gigs,
Then loaded their rigs,
And headed home from the affair.
These silly sing-song lines resulted from a horse-loving mother-daughter field trip to the Midwest Horse Fair, held April 18-20, at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin. We saw horses of every color and breed, displayed in show-ready finery for all equestrian disciplines imaginable. What fun!
