Hospital Bag Checklist for Women About to Give Birth

Ashley Noble
Its always helpful to have a list of items to help you remember what to pack. You don't want to forget anything, because you can't run home in the middle of a contraction to pick up that must have item!

So here is a list that I hope you find helpful.

In no particular order:

2 shirts that open easy in the front to feed your baby.
Comfy pants with a elastic or drawstring band that will fit you both pregnant and after delivery.
Underwear and lots of it- You will go through a lot.
Pads or liners- the hospital will provide some, but make sure you bring a kind you are comfortable wearing.
Nursing bra and nursing tank- Better than staying in the hospital gown afterwards.
Chap stick- Hospitals always seem to be so dry, and your lips will get chapped very easily.
Camera- For all those first baby pictures.
Socks- You won't want to walk around bare-footed, slippers will work great too.
Glasses or contacts- So you can see your new little bundle.
Watch- To help time contractions.
Books- pass the time.
Nursing pillow- great for the first few feedings, when you are learning.
Nipple cream- for the first few days of latch problems.
Lotion- to keep your skin from being so dry.
Shampoo/conditioner- You will feel so much better after delivery with a nice hot shower
hair clip- to keep your hair back during delivery.
toothbrush- For those pearly whites.
toothpaste- You have to stay fresh.
soap- Nice and clean after delivery.

Its great to have some sort of item that calms you from home, maybe a picture of your other children, a special pillow, or some music. The calmer you are the better.

Baby blanket- To keep your little one nice and warm.
Diapers- you don't want a mess everywhere.
Diaper Rash Cream- To keep there butts nice and comfy.
Vaseline- Again to keep their little tushes soft, also great if you are having a boy that will be circumcised.
Extra outfits- You will need more than one.
hat- To keep there heat in.
Bib- For those spit up accidents.
Coming home outfit- an outfit to bring them home in and have their first picture taken with. Make sure its something that you will love forever and its timeless.

Don't forget to pack Dad some things too. And bring extra money with for vending machines. Also have a phone to call everyone and announce the new arrival. Give Dad the list and have him spread your wonderful news.
