Hostess Gifts for Holiday Gatherings

If you're traveling this holiday season, don't forget to take a token of your appreciation to your destination. A simple, classic hostess gift will set the mood for your Christmas and New Year's party celebrations this season.

A host or hostess gift is a simple way to say thank you for the invitation. After all, the host or hostess is treating you to a few hours of fun, food and socialization that they have coordinated and prepared. A host or hostess gift should be thoughtful, simple and useful for the occasion.

Hostess Gifts for Holiday Gatherings: A Bottle of Wine

A bottle of wine is a classic hostess gift. If you know what type of meal is being prepared, try to choose a wine that will complement the food. Pair the bottle of wine with a new wine bottle opener, just in case the hostess doesn't have one handy. And, a new kitchen gadget is always welcome. Some wine bottles can have personalized labels. If the gathering is for a new year's party, consider having the new year inscribed on the label as a keepsake.

Hostess Gifts for Holiday Gatherings: An Appetizer or Dessert

At most holiday gatherings, the more appetizers and desserts there are to choose form, the happier guests will be. If you make a unique appetizer, take the time to prepare some and present it to the hostess upon arrival. Your gift can be shared by everyone. As an added bonus for the hostess, place the appetizers on a serving platter that they may keep for future parties.

If you love to bake, bringing a dessert as a hostess gift may be perfect. If you love to make cookies form scratch, or make a scrumptious homemade pie, consider making an extra to present to you hostess. At social functions, there are usually a few dessert options, and one more is always welcome. And, don't surprised if the host tucks the goodies away for their own personal enjoyment after the party!

Hostess Gifts for Holiday Gatherings: Centerpieces or Flowers

If your holiday gathering involves a meal, consider bringing flowers or a table centerpiece. Fresh cut flowers can be placed on a mantle, a serving table, the dining room table or in a living room where guests will gather. Consider coordinating the flower arrangement with the holiday or the room decor. If you assemble the fresh cut flowers yourself, consider presenting them in a vase that the hostess will keep as a gift. Don't forget to finish it with a ribbon or bow for an extra special touch.

I really like both ideas. You have excellent tips for making sure the flowers fit the occasion and decor.
