Hosting the Winter Olympic Games

Keith Dailey
When consideration is being given to this tremendous undertaking there is a lot to mull over. Once a city has made the decision to go forward with the event, they then must be chose among other countries and cities that want the honor.

In 1976 Denver, Colorado declined the opportunity to host the Winter Olympic Games due to the financial burden it entailed. The city's voters made the decision that a $5 million bond for promotion of the Winter Olympic Games, as well as renovation and updates should not be approved.

Although Denver is one city that turned down the honor, there are many other cities in many countries that are willing to take on the financial in order to host the Winter Olympic Games. Many of these cities make the decision to host the games in light of the tremendous revenue that will be brought into the area during the time of the Olympic Games. There is also the publicity the city that could bring continued tourism into the area to generate additional revenue after the Olympic Games are complete.

Most of the funds that are earned to go toward the renovation of a city in readiness for the Winter Olympic Games is provided by the revenue from the rights to televise the Winter Olympic Games from that city.

There is a bidding process that takes place where the particular cities wanting to the privilege of hosting the Winter Olympic Games place. These bids are then reviewed and taken into consideration by a committee who will choose a select three or four. The choice location is chosen after careful evaluation of each city. It is not uncommon for a city to place a bid each time the Olympic Games location is being considered until that city finally wins the hosting bid. Upon denial of their bid the city will question the reasoning and then work toward working on construction or whatever the committee found to be lacking.

The Olympic Games is a universal event that no one country can lay claim to. It takes place in a different country almost every year. Even when held in the same country, it isn't held in the same city as previous Winter Olympic Games. It is a great thrill to have the Winter Olympic Games hosted in a city not far from your residence, as it give you a rare opportunity to see some of the Games live, rather than have to watch them all on television.

Vancouver, Canada has laid claim to the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. This will be the country's second hosting of the Winter Olympic Games and third overall in Olympic Games they have hosted. Security is one of the greatest concerns and quite a large budget item when you take into consideration the number of people that will be in the city and the number of countries represented. With this in mind, $200 million is budgeted for security alone, out of an astounding $1.4 billion total cost for hosting the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

The Winter Olympic Games are planned ahead of time. This allows for the chosen city's focus to be on the work needing to be done before the Winter Olympic Games are hosted there. In 2014 Sochi, Russia will be hosting the Winter Olympic Games. Russia will need all the time available in order to prepare for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. There are 2,000 miles of fiber optics that will be laid and four hydropower stations that will be built. These two projects alone will cost the country in excess of $580 million in order to provide the appropriate communication and electricity power needed for the event. They are also in the process of railway and airport expansions in able to ensure that they are able to accommodate the large number of people that will be pouring into the area for the event.

Shoes have so many decorated material, stuff in the three-dimensional flowers, metal studs, bow ties, and a variety of precious crystal, YSL shoes were decorated with the metal materials, even the classic bamboo with a small increase or heel-catcher at the top.
