Carolina Herrera is ubiquitous, designing clothes since 1981. Carolina has been dressing famous women the world over, some of which include Jackie Onassis, Renee Zellweger, Nicole Kidman, and Caroline Kennedy. For this fall season, Carolina introduces natural shades with lots of rich browns, off white, pale pink, aqua, and reds in her ready to wear collection. Unusual necklines including cowl collars, bold accessories, office wear and a few surprises make up the collection. Below are my top five picks from her collection to add to your fall 2011 wardrobe:
The two-piece dress seen here with a long flowing sheath skirt is elegant enough for an easy transition to an evening event after a long day at the office. The brown and white long sleeved blouse is a pullover and lightweight enough to wear during the cooler months of the year. The wide leather brown belt is the perfect accessory here, and for jewelry, try copper or gold, but not too much of it. A statement piece is all that you really need; a bold necklace or cuff bracelet will suffice.
It is the neckline on this dress that really stands out. Camel in color, this can be worn to the office and you can even add a dressy jacket to it in a bolder color. The pick for this season is either deep moss green or plum color if you decide to add a jacket to the dress. The skirt is knee length, with cap sleeves on the bodice, with the addition of a narrow belt. Instead of a necklace, go for a gold or rhinestone brooch on the dress or that added jacket.
Now this red suit with a cowl collar will look perfect on the right lady. The garment definitely says fall, with the berry red color that could also deck that Thanksgiving Day table. A narrow black leather belt accompanies the suit, and the red gloves are optional but pretty if you decide to wear this to the theatre on a November night.
Aqua normally sounds like a spring or summer color but you can actually get away with wearing this dress in the southern states, especially near the beach. The simple, classic sheath lines with a slightly high collar can enjoy a plethora of colorful accessories. Instead of gold or silver, try purple, green, or red beaded jewelry with this dress.
Last on the list is a pale pink and black dress that could pass for a 1930's burlesque one. The feathers on the lower part of the sleeves is what gives it a slightly glamorous touch, in addition to the sequined bodice. Add a feather boa to this and you are ready for the ballroom floor.
Carolina Herrera's fashions can be purchased through her boutique in New York City, Bergdorf Goodman, and Saks Fifth Avenue.
