The phenomenon started when Lady Gaga's Poker Face became a stratospheric hit that made music history and continued when this young unknown with a crazy obsession for weird hairstyles and crazy couture took the world by storm and became a pop legend before she turned 25.

There is no denying that Lady Gaga can easily become the artist of the decade if she keeps going on this route. Time magazine puts her on the front cover of the 100 most influential people issue, and her record breaking sales catapult her in the Olympus inhabited by artists like Michael Jackson and Madonna.

Her appearance is outrageous, her lyrics are controversial and her music is so catchy it is almost addictive, yet there is more to this singer's that an exhibitionist persona and a star quality that we rarely see in people her age. Lady Gaga is smart, and yes she is an artist in the pure sense of the term, if we think that she has transformed pop music into performance art.

Quoting Cyndi Lauper who talks about Gaga in Time magazine, "Lady Gaga captures the period we're in right now... Gaga presents her ideas in a sophisticated manner, when most of the stuff on the radio is not very clever."

If you hear her speaking during interviews, she is an articulate young woman who makes you see that there is more to her than latex bodysuits and sculpture wigs. Like any artist beyond her time she has a freakish appearance that captivates attention, but if you go beyond her appearance, you can see the strength of legends like Madonna and the artistic genius of myths like Elton John and the late Freddie Mercury, and then there are her videos.

Lady Gaga Videos

Even though Lady Gaga started her career with a Pokerface video where one could think that she was yet another sex kitten wearing a platinum wig and latest space body suit, her videos rapidly evolved into graphic representations of Russian bath houses where she is auctioned off to a mob boss in Bad Romance.

Lady Gaga Telphone

The media went crazy when Gaga offered a mini cinematographic masterpiece with Paparazzi and continued on the trend with the release of Telephone where pop music videos suddenly became mini -films where there was a story represented with a graphic intensity that you could find in masterpieces like Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill.

Lady Gaga's latest controversy

Finally there is the controversy, not only in her lyrics and videos but also when it comes to Lady Gaga's sex and sexual inclinations. The latest hit? The recent leakage of a demo of what feels like Britney Spears singing Telephone.

The track where allegedly Britney Spears sings Lady Gaga's Telephone leaked in early May, and caused a media frenzy even though it should not have come as a surprise if Spears did indeed sing this piece, since Lady Gaga had originally written Telephone for Spears.

Though Spears fans are denying the authenticity of this track, you can listen for yourself and decide. Here is the link to the demo with Britney spears singing Telephone.
