Six flags over Louisville was formerly known as Kentucky Kingdom and is one of the better known Louisville kids spots. The amusement park has grown quite a bit since Six flags has taken over, especially in the water park area. The water park expansion is the largest in amusement park history.

This Louisville kids spot is open seven days a week during the summer and is located at the fairgrounds. Parking is $5. Entry is $32 and up per person without coupons, unless a season pass is purchased. At $60, the season pass is well worth it, if you plan on visiting more than once in a summer.

This Louisville kids spot has a Warner Brothers' theme, which is evident throughout the park. From the ride names and gift shops to the plush prizes at game booths and the mascots walking around, Warner Brothers characters are everywhere.

The park includes an area for small children (under 54") with fun rides, a carrosel, and a big warehouse that is loaded with air powered guns and vacuum hoses that suck up and shoot foam balls. As children suck up with the balls, they are transported and stored in a huge box hanging far above the ground level. When a bell goes off, the box tips over and anyone standing below it is showered with a barrage of the balls.

No theme park would be complete without a good collection of roller coasters, and this Louisville kids spot has quite a few, including one for kids under the usual 48" height requirement. Visitors can enjoy a "stand up" roller coaster, coasters that go upside down, wooden coasters, and one that hangs from a rail.

The food and refreshment come at a high price, but that's expected at theme parks. The games are pricey, too and you can expect the same games found at just about any carnival or theme park, including the ring and bottle toss, the water gun races, the basketball hoops and other game booths with large prizes and flashing lights.

The water park adds to the fun of this Louisville kids spot and contains an array of different water slides to ride in a tube or just in your swimsuit. In addition to the water slides, there's a huge wave pool and a lazy river to float around in.

For the most part, Six Flags over Louisville offers the same rides you'll find at any of their parks. High food and drink prices, bungee jumping, games, and overpriced photos are all available at additional charges. In my opinion, the best money you will spend at this Louisville kids spot is $10 for the "Flash pass" which allows you to bypass all lines and go straight to the front. This will greatly increase the value of the money you've already spent for entrance, as you will not be waiting in line for up to an hour and half or more and allows you to experience more rides throughout your visit.
