Hot Pockets Nacho Bites Snackers

Consumer Product Review

Thomas J McCabe

This past weekend, I was looking for something different to eat as a snack, in the frozen food section of a local grocery store. For the first time, I saw Hot Pockets Nacho Bites Snackers and they were on sale, so I decided to purchase a package of them.

After trying these nacho bites, I think they would be a good product to review. Presented here, in an effort to assist the consumer, is an article which reviews and examines the new Hot Pockets Nacho Bites Snackers

Size
The net weight of the 12 piece package of Hot Pockets Nacho Bites Snackers is 10 ounces. The net weight of the 30 - piece package of Hot Pockets Nacho Bites Snackers is 25 ounces.

These frozen nacho bites are not particularly large in size. To me, these bites seem to be a little bit bigger than a standard sized pizza roll. Although four pieces are considered one serving, when I ate some of these nacho bites a couple of nights ago, I ate six of them along with a hot dog and some potato chips and I still wasn't really full.

The package is fairly large and it requires a decent amount of space in one's freezer.

Price
The regular retail price charged for one 10 ounce package of Hot Pockets Nacho Bites Snackers at Hartford, Connecticut area supermarkets is approximately $3.69. When I purchased these nacho bites, the sale price charged for one 10 ounce package was $2.99.

Texture / Consistency
Several different textures are present in Hot Pockets Nacho Bites Snackers. First of all, the exterior part of the bite is essentially a tortilla type wrap that looks like it has been fried to a nice, golden brown hue. According to the front label, however, these tasty morsels are baked, not fried.

While most people would probably cook these nacho bites in a microwave oven, I decided to cook them in the conventional oven, so they could form a crispy exterior. The bites did become fairly crispy on the outside, which is a good thing. I think that if I cooked them in a microwave oven, their exterior would be less pleasing.

Inside of the tortilla wrap sit small, roundish pieces of taco - seasoned beef and jalapeno peppers, which are suspended in an abundance of yellow - orangeish cheese sauce. I noticed that the consistency of these bites improved when the bites sat and cooled - off a bit before being eaten.

Nutritional Facts
Hot Pockets Nacho Bites Snackers contain 220 calories, with 80 calories from fat, per four piece serving. These tasty snacks also contain 4 grams of saturated fat, less than 0.5 grams trans fat, 8 grams total fat, 20 mg of cholesterol, 540 mg of sodium, 28 grams total carbohydrates, 1 gram of dietary fiber, 4 grams of sugars and 7 grams of protein, per four piece serving.

Taste / Flavor
It is difficult for me to ascertain how I feel about the flavor offered by Hot Pockets Nacho Bites Snackers. It's not that I dislike the flavor of these frozen bites, but I also think there is room for improvement. The overall taste of these bites isn't bad, but the cheese sauce seems to dominate the flavor.

In my opinion, the jalapeno peppers in these bites are the tastiest part of the item. On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign this product a rating of 7.50.

Packaging
Hot Pockets Nacho Bites Snackers are packaged in a large, heavy duty red plastic like bag. The front label features an illustration of some of the enclosed bites and the rear label lists all pertinent ingredient and nutritional information. The bag opens easily and it is also re-closeable.

Overall Rating
If you're a fan of Hot Pockets items to begin with, there's a good chance you would enjoy the flavor offered by Hot Pockets Nacho Bites Snackers. Otherwise, I would say that these nacho bites are a decent enough snack to eat, when you want to try something different.

This new product from Hot Pockets is stocked and sold at supermarkets across America.
