Hot Pumpkin Drink Recipe

Pumpkin Hot Chocolate

Della R. Buckland
Cool (or in some regions cold) nights during the Fall and Winter make most people reach for something warm. This article's hot pumpkin drink recipe brings into play the slow cooker (crock pot) to help prepare this hot pumpkin drink as well as keep the drink warm while you and your family and/or guests enjoy the changing of the seasons.

Ingredients:

2 cups whipping cream
6 cups whole milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 12oz. package of white chocolate chips
1 15oz. can of pumpkin pie filling (i.e. Libby's Easy Pumpkin Pie Mix)

To Make:

1. Blend together the whipping cream, milk, vanilla and pumpkin pie filling in a slow cooker (5 to 6 quart size will work well) until the pumpkin filling is well blended.

2. Add chocolate chips and stir to combine.

3. Cook on low for 2 ½ hours, stirring occasionally until the mixture is hot and the chocolate has fully melted.

4. Garnish with whipped cream sprinkled with pumpkin pie spice if so desired.

Variation:

If you cannot find pumpkin pie filling you can use the following in place of same:

1 15oz. pure pumpkin (no spices added)
¾ cup sugar
½ tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp ginger
¼ tsp clove

Prepare the pumpkin mixture before adding the other ingredients and continued the recipe as indicated above.
