Large Curls
Wash and blow dry your hair. Separate your hair into sections and roll in heated rollers. Add styling gel or hairspray to help hold the curls. After taking the rollers out put your hair up with your favorite accessory and use bobby pins to keep the curls tight to your head or let them hang loose. This style gives you a designer updo look at home without having to pay the cost of going to a salon. You can roll your hair in the heated rollers twice to get that extra curl. Also, try spraying your hair with volumizing spray before rolling.
Tussled Bun
After washing and blow drying your hair put it up in a loose bun using a piece of ribbon, or other favorite hair piece. Take your hands and gently loosen some strands of hair from the bun making a messy tussled look. If you have bangs try swooping them off to the side, over your forehead, for a softer look. Use hairspray to help hold the loose ends of your bun from straying. Choose hair accessories that match your outfit or are universal colors (such as black, brown, grey).
French Twist
A French twist offers a stylish hairstyle that looks formal and can go from day to evening with hardly any fuss. Put your hair in a pony tail, twist it several times, and then tuck the end under the twist. Secure this updo with bobby pins, preferably a similar color to your hair and use hairspray. Did a few strands come loose? Try curling them with a curling iron to frame your face. Thicker hair seems to hold better in this style, thinner/shorter hair needs more styling gel or hairspray to stay put.
Short Updo
Just because you have short hair does not mean you have to miss out on having an updo. Glam up your style with curling the top and back, use bobby pins to hold sides up, and add sheik accessories to set off your style and outfit. Katie Holmes and Reese Witherspoon are two actresses who know how to pull off a short updo.
Pony Tail
This is a proven way to keep cool in the summer. Make the look sleeker by flat ironing your hair first, adding a few braids into the pony tail, or curling the ends of your hair. Putting accessories and different styles of ribbon or fabric over your elastic band will give your pony tail that 2009 feel. A fun way to keep from getting hot this summer and stay looking great.
