There are hundreds of books available at the store and lately, I've been noticing that all of the titles are on the same five topics. The labor of writing a business book can pay off for your entire life, with royalties, website / blog opportunities, contracts to write more books, speaking engagements and cable news consultant jobs.
Hot Topic #1 - Start Your Own Business / Work At Home
Who hasn't thought about starting your own business? Starting a business can also be a way to work from home. The niche topics on this subject ranged from types of home business moms can start, businesses you can launch on a shoestring budget and tips on how to organize your home based office.
Hot Topic #2 - Franchising
Another type of business you can own is a franchise. The books on franchises include franchise ratings guides, how to evaluate a franchise opportunity and legal advice for potential franchise owners. This is another in demand topic since almost anyone who has owned a franchise or corporate lawyers who have experience in this field are qualified to write guides on the subject.
Hot Topic #3 - Personal Finance
Personal finance is one of hottest topics on the web today. That popularity translates into the print world. You can write on how to live frugally, how to live like a celebrity, how to save for retirement, how to retire early. Don't forget the niches of women's personal finance, kid's personal finance, help for funding a college education, and the all time best selling type of personal finance: how to get out of debt.
Hot Topic #4 - Real Estate
If personal finance books are hot, then the subject of real estate is sizzling! The shelves of the bookstore are lined with books on how to buy your first house, how to choose a mortgage, how to buy foreclosed real estate, how to purchase tax liens, how to be a landlord and how to buy real estate with no money down. This is an evergreen topic, as readers will always want to learn how to own property and become wealthy.
Hot Topic #5 - Investing / Trading
Primers on investing and trading will always have a place on the bookshelf. Even with the uncertain economy, there are ways to make money in trading. Some popular themes within investing are options, the stock market, index funds, mutual funds, day trading, currency or FOREX trading and value investing. You can't go wrong if you write your book in an easy to read format and make the terminology simple for readers of all investing knowledge levels.
Finding your business book topic is the easy part. The writing is where your skills come in. However, your book writing efforts will pay off in the long run.
