HOT New Trends in Atlanta, Georgia

It's All About the Hair, Eyes, Lips and Lashes!

Karen Francis
Hi, my name is Karen Francis and I currently live in Lawrenceville, Georgia which is located in the Gwinnett County area of Georgia. I have been a resident of Georgia since 2001, but I am originally from the Bronx, New York. Atlanta is about 20 miles from Lawrenceville, so all the sites of the metropolitan city are just a short ride away.

When I think about the hottest trends in Atlanta, I immediately think about hair and makeup. Although I grew up in New York, I have never seen as many diverse hair styles as Atlanta has to offer. I dare say it's too many to name. However, I can tell you that what seems to be a hot trend of late are the lace front wigs. Most of these wigs are made with 100% human hair and cost between $300 and $3000 and up depending on hair quality and length.

I would dare say that the second biggest trend in hair for African Americans is "going natural". Yes, that's right they are getting rid of the perms, flat irons and chemicals and opting for natural hair. Women that go natural typically use conditioners and moisturizers in order to tame their healthy natural hair. Some people add a little gel in order to create more diverse styles with their natural look.

Next up, let's talk abut makeup. According to Atlanta MAC makeup artist Nicole Michelle, it's all about the eyes, lips and lashes! Nicole suggest that if you're going for a strong Smokey eye look, then you want to go nude or light on the lips. However, you can go bold with the lashes for a night look and a little lighter for a day time look. Nicole mentioned that she's starting to see the increasing demand for false lashes. "People are paying upwards of $250 to have false eyelashes put on their eyes".

Next week, it's all about the Hottest fashion trends in the ATL. Stay tuned!
