Hot Trends from the Four Major Fashion Weeks for Ready-To-Wear Spring/Summer 2011
Hot Trends for Spring 2011 from New York, London, Milan and Paris
Paris When It Sizzles for Spring 2011
A sensual lady-like sophistication hit the Parisian catwalks for spring/summer 2011. However, this is modern Parisian fashion so lady-like sophistication at times came in bold colors and prints. The 70's trend for the spring 2011 season lent the necessary sensuality to typical lady-like fashions like straight skirt suits, pretty cocktail dresses and red carpet gowns.
The varying levels of lady-like seductive fashion that came from Paris hold a little something for all women. Feminine sultriness with a masculine edge was on the menu from Dries Van Noten's silk floral print shirtdress. Frou-frou sexiness from Nina Ricci served on a palette with blush tones and bagged cinched waist peplum-look skirts. The edgier lady-like sophistication from Hermes and Louis Vuitton with fine leatherwork mixed with sheers and harnesses (Hermes) to bold colors and prints in basic lady-like silhouettes (Vuitton). No one ever said being a lady meant you had dress boring with no sex appeal.
Milan is White Hot for Spring/Summer 2011
Even though color played a huge role in Spring/Summer 2011 ready-to-wear fashion, there is something fresh, modern and oh so seductive about basic white. White matches well with every color toning down busy prints or bright colors. Not to mention White is the coolest, literally, color to sport during the hot summer months.
Italian designers knew this instinctively by the showing of dazzling white garments to grace the Milanese catwalks for the spring 2011 shows. White stunners from the basic white summer sweater dress from No.21 to Dolce & Gabbana's sexy lace "Like a Virgin" ensembles are hot tickets for spring 2011. Perhaps the most stunning and 'clean' displays of white to come from Milan were present at the Gabriele Colangelo collection, who used white with a high sheen factor to keep the color updated and fashion forward for spring 2011.
London Is Flirtatious Girly For Spring 2011
London catwalks sported a girly and at times too juvenile look on the catwalk for spring 2011. With babydoll dresses, tons of lace and pleats gave rise to the modern London Lolita look for spring/summer 2011. Three designers really drove this look home with jailbait sexy romps and lacy garments to make any woman feel like a little girl again. Check out the collections from British design houses Erdem, David Koma and Twenty8Twelve.
New York Is Hot at What It Does Best - Minimalism
New York fashion week showcased various different looks for the spring 2011 season from flamboyant 70's laden collections to red carpet glamour. However, New York fashion shines at what it does best, minimalism. Donna Karan, Ralph Lauren, Helmut Lang, Calvin Klein and Michael Kors exhibited the finest work of this trend. While the most stunning collection from New York Fashion was more on the glamorous side, it could not take away from the Spartan feel of the season.
The epitome of classic American design, Ralph Lauren presented a chic minimalistic collection with western tinges. Suede, leather, tans and fringe were used but not heavily. These were accents for beautifully simple lace dresses and jeans. Lauren also added hints of luxe with shiny metallics to lend variation. This was perhaps one of Ralph Lauren's best collections to date.
Beyond the 1970s, each fashion center had its own trend to display for spring 2011. You have over five months to think about what spring trends will spark your fancy for next spring. Will you be a sexy lady, a coquette, dazzling in white, take the Spartan approach or be a mixture of these trends? There is still time to decide, however do not wait too long because spring will be here before you know it!
