Hot Trends in Scrapbooking Fall and Winter 2010

There are two main seasons for scrapbooking; summer and winter. Die hard scrappers know to look for the latest and greatest in scrapbooking trends, products and tools they can find them at the Craft and Hobby Association Winter or Summer Convention and Tradeshow.

There are some hot trends that you will see this fall/winter, some of which are somewhat new to the scrapbooking scene and some are thing we have seen before but with a little twist.

I am always looking forward to fall because it is my favorite season out of the year. The weather is cool and crisp, the leaves are changing, kids go back to school and farmers are harvesting their crops. And you can find my absolute favorite treat at the grocery store, caramel apples! Apples are something you typically relate to with fall and back to school. This year apples are a hot trend in paper crafts, more specifically, apples that are cut in half showing the seeds inside. In the majority of scrapbooking companies, you will find these apples in their fall product lines. Creative Memories has teamed up with Provo Craft to bring you exclusive CM Cricut Cartridges. The Cheerful Seasons Cartridge has many images to choose from, one of which is the sliced apple. Imaginisce, among several other scrapbooking companies, has a paper collection featuring apples called Apple Crisp

Pennants and banners are probably THE HOTTEST trend this fall. You will find pennant banners in all types of paper crafting. Many scrapbookers are making pennant banners; triangles strung together across their scrapbooking pages, as embellishments. They are also adding letters to each of the triangles and creating page titles on their banners. Pennants have become a hot trend in home décor with paper crafters making large banners to hang on their wall for birthdays, autumn and Halloween decorations. Pennants are popping up in table centerpieces, placeholders and napkin rings.

Divided page protectors are not new to the scrapbooking world but are becoming more popular this fall. In the past, we used to just use divide page protectors to house our photos but now many companies are showing how you can also use them to house your photos, journaling, use decorative mats to enhance your photos and add traditional scrapbooking elements to your divided page protectors to make them look more like a scrapbooking page. Creative Memories has a really cool PicFolio Album Line that allows you to combine traditional scrapbooking with the ease of a traditional photo album.

Paper Rosettes are a have been trendy in the past and again we see these still in style this fall. Large paper rosettes are a very trendy decoration for parties and holidays. They look beautiful hung from the ceiling. Paper rosettes are popping up on party banners, table decorations, gift jars of jams and cooking mixes, gift tags, bags and boxes.

And last but not least, vintage is a trend again this season. I think vintage is something that will never stop being trendy. I have only glimpsed at some of the awesome vintage collections coming out this fall and winter. A few that caught my eye were Noel by Making Memories and Graphic 45's Christmas Past Collection and Hallowe'en in Wonderland.
