Hot Tween-Appeal Tim Urban- Check Out His Abs- He Doesn't Need American Idol

American Idol 2010 Season 9 has a hot new sensation and it has not much to do with singing. But it has everything to do with a hot body and chick appeal. The sensation is Tim Urban, 20, of Duncanville, Texas. Despite obstacles, his undaunted star is rising. And his star doesn't need American Idol. Consider Tim's luck.

Tim Urban did not make it into the Top 24, until American Idol executives bounced a guy who had made it. Chris Golightly was disqualified because he could not find the release from a contract with a boy band until it was too late. In the meantime, Tim Urban was Golightly's last-minute replacement.

When Tim was admitted into the Top 24, my assessment was this- Tim Urban is a guy I strongly consider for the Top Ten. He's a good-liking college student with a good voice and plenty of girl-appeal. But for his first performance in the Top 24, judge Simon Cowell tore it apart and said something like 'our decision about you was right the first time and you don't deserve to be here'. I disagreed with Simon. Yet, next week was a different story.

On February 24, my positive opinion about Tim Urban changed after he sang 'Apologize', even though judge Ellen DeGeneres said he was adorable. I thought he might do okay singing in a boy band, if he can dance, and suggested that acting might work for him. But my main take was that Tim is a mediocre singer and his 'Apologize' may have blown his American Idol dream. Yet, the next night found Tim in the Top 20.

On March 2, everything turned topsy turvy. Tim performed splendidly. The guy with serious chick-appeal and a wholesome look gave one of the top three performances of the night. Playing acoustic guitar, Tim gave an honest performance of 'Come on, Get Higher' by folk-rocker Matt Nathanson. Judges Randy, Ellen, and Kara didn't like it. But Simon did and so did I.

Simon remarked that Tim Urban had made 'marked improvement'. He said that the song was young and relevant. He was impressed by Tim's work ethic. Simon gave Tim his only "Congratulations" of the night. The performance put Tim in the Top 16. While he may not win American Idol, he may make the Top 10, if not the finals.

Yet, regardless of American Idol, Tim Urban has a show business future that's already converging with the present.
