Why is it that I prefer to stay at Monte Vista with so many other hotels in the area? As previously mentioned, not only is it one of the oldest man-made landmarks in the area, but is also located directly within the vicinity of small shops, businesses, and popular nightlife attractions. After check-in, you are escorted to your cozy room that provides simply a bed, bathroom, and big screen television. From a second or third story view, the train can be sighted as it winds along its track through the rocky landscape. Although the service is excellent, and employees of the hotel staff, bar, and coffee shop are friendly, a visit to the MV is not simply about the stay. It is infamous for its traditional characteristics, location, and history. Stories of bootlegging, gambling, and radio broadcasting can be depicted by paintings, pictures, and newspaper articles exhibited through the hotel. Residents share these tales on account of the many animate guests who have visited the MV...and let's not forget the inanimate....
That's right! Ghosts, spirits, undead, apparitions...malevolent beings! or whatever you choose to term it, you will not be lone at the Monte Vista. Constructed in the mid 1920's, this hotel has long spoiled their customers with such eminent service and hospitable affection that some opted to stay. Instead of terrifying guests into departure, these stories have enticed individuals from a variety of publications. Not only does the Monte Vista attract tourists, but also television programs, authors, and even ghost hunters.
Once again, do not fear the dark, bizarre tales of death and suspense revealed by the hotel staff. Instead, embrace the idea of company and prepare for a well-deserved getaway to this peaceful town sitting atop the San Francisco Peaks. Breathe the fresh air 12,000 feet above sea level and prepare to travel to nearby country landmarks such as the Grand Canyon and Coconino National Forest.
