Hotel Newton on a Friday Afternoon

a Poem: Circa 1996

Hotel Newton on a Friday afternoon, 95th and Broadway was my final resting place until the money ran short by Sunday noon. My friend Kyle dropped me off with my bags and told me "good luck with your career".

"Thank you" I said and got out of the ride $200 dollars in my pocket and $75 bucks a stay per night, New York City on a Friday night. As I sat in my room thinking...how time was running so short and soon I would be stinkin'.

You could'nt tell by looking that I wasn't a queen on my throne, but I was scared as hell and I wished I was home.

Hunger set in Hotel Newton's lobby...went downstairs walked outside met a man, he sent me food through a soul to a soul. It was much appreciated. This Friday afternoon 'til Sunday morn, this weekend turned from fright to delight as I sat in Hotel Newton Uptown Saturday night...alright!
