Hotel Review: Days Inn Located in Washington DC

Angelie MacKenzie
I stayed at the Days Inn on Connecticut Avenue in Washington, D.C. on July 25, 2006. I chose the hotel from hotels.com because they were cheap and they had wireless internet. When I arrived, there was actually somewhere to park to check-in. At some hotels this is an issue, but it wasn't at this hotel. After me and my friend checked in, we had to move the vehicle to the designed parking area. I felt like a pack mule hauling my luggage all the way from the parking area across the street to the hotel and then up to the room.

When we got to the room, it was a king size bed rather than the two doubles that I had requested. Leaving my stuff and my friend in the room, I returned downstairs. The lady at the desk was very nice, but she claimed that they hadn't gotten the information about the type of room that I requested. She easily changed us to another room and I went back upstairs to get my friend. It was highly inconvenient, but at least they easily fixed it.

Some places claim to have wireless internet, but it doesn't work so well. However, I didn't have any problems connecting to their wireless internet and staying connecting. If wireless internet is important to you, this is a great hotel.

Restaurants are a bit of a challenge in this neighbor in D.C. Their website says that they have a restaurant now, but they didn't when I stayed there. We had to walk down to Burger King for breakfast. However, I'm not really a fan of fast food places. If you want nice restaurants within walking distance, this isn't the hotel for you.

The hotel is located only three blocks from a metro station. This is very convenient if you don't want to drive around the city. In D.C., I prefer to take a taxi or the metro so I don't have to worry about finding a parking place when I get to where I am going and then when I return to the hotel.

Most of the rooms at the Days Inn hotel also have microwaves and refrigerators, but I think you have to request this. These little conveniences are always good to have even if you go to a restaurant to eat. That way, if you want to bring something back, you will have a place to put it and a way to heat it up.

I highly recommend this restaurant mostly because they are cheap compared to other hotels in Washington, D.C. And hotels in this part of D.C. have cheaper parking fees. But, keep in mind that taking a taxi to downtown D.C. will cost more because it is in another zone.
