Hotel Review: Hahndorf Resort (South Australia)

Amy Huang
Reasonably priced for a standard room, we weren't sure what to expect when we paid for the accommodation online. For a resort, the price seem to be slightly too low, and for its location it almost seem too good to be true.

The Hahndorf Resort is in the heart of Adelaide Hills, a serene getaway from the Adelaide city centre. The surrounding Australian bush and wildlife are the focus of the famous Australian artist Hans Heysen, and the cultural influence from its early German settlers makes this region a unique experience in Australia.

The resort is only two minutes drive from the historic German town of Hahndorf and features a vast property with walking tracks, fishing pond, tennis court and a swimming pool. The basic rooms are cozy with two queen sized beds and a clean and modern bathroom, and the luxury chalets is just what holiday goers need for a comfortable stay. The signature Bavarian style chalets allows you the scenery of the Australian bush amongst pines and gumtrees, stylishly decorated with a Bavarian feel.

The staff are extremely friendly and the excellent restaurant offer good hearty breakfasts. The reception is built high up on the hill overlooking the close surrounding regions, it's easy to get lost in such painting like landscape.

The only complaint I have of the standard rooms were that walls were not completely sound proof, and often running children along the corridors and noise of the arguing couple next door often pour straight into the rooms.

For business requirements, the resort offers state of the art conference centre for hire for corporate getaway events, as well as providing a great location and venue for a beautiful wedding.

Rooms start from $99, discounts apply through online bookings from LastMinute.com.au or Wotif.com.au

I am sorry to hear your experience with the resort Jenny. I wonder if they have changed management. I'll have to revisit to find out.
