Hilton Singer Island Oceanfront Resort is quite a find and offers so much, yet is not a very big hotel...but, if a dip in the ocean, walking on the beach and watching the waves roll in as the Palm trees sway, then this is a spot for you
Both times we stayed there I called ahead to make sure we would have a beach view...since the balconies are all on both sides of the hotel, they say all the rooms do have a view but the further away from the ocean you are the further you have to strain your neck to see the beach, that is, unless you get one of the most sought after and higher priced "Ocean Front" rooms...we have had rooms that are nearer the seaside with decent ocean views from the tiny balconies...yes, very tiny balconies that I wish were just a bit larger...but alas you can't have everything I guess..
We have been greeted warmly on both occasions upon arrival with fast check-ins, and like I said, given rooms with a good view...maybe being a Hilton Honors member helps.
The hotel recently underwent a renovation and you can tell since the rooms are immaculately clean...though they aren't very large they are a decent size with truly comfortable beds filled with 6 down pillows, soft sheets and a down mattress pad and comforter...very easy to fall asleep quickly and stay asleep soundly.
One thing I found a bit strange was the décor, more northern than tropical, with dark woods against a yellow, beige and green color scheme...Nice though and nothing to complain about...there was an arm chair and ottoman in one corner, looking out toward the beach area if you had the curtains open, closed, those drapes kept out all light and sound, on the other side was a desk with space for a computer and had Wi Fi high speed internet access,.... next to the desk was an armoire where the television was stored along with a few drawers and shelves for all your belongings. The TV had quite a lot of stations featuring satellite channels and pay for view movies.
Next to the king sized bed there were two end tables, each with a good reading lamp and on one was a clock/radio and phone.
On one side, along the entranceway, was a closet that had a small refrigerator where you could actually put your own goodies, not one of those mini-bars that you have to pay for everything...this we found especially useful to put the samples we received from the food show...if you needed to iron something they provided an iron board and iron and another comforter.
Across from the closet was a small bathroom with tub/shower combo, just average size but nice and clean and had good water pressure...there were safety bars and that little clothes line you can pull across the tub to hang up your bathing suits...the granite counter top by the sink had a large mirror above it along with a hair dryer and a coffee pot which had pretty good coffee and all the accoutrements needed to make a small pot in the morning to get you going. They also supplied wonderful shampoo, conditioner and soaps by Crabtree and Evelyn's called Le Source...now my favorites which I actually go out to buy...they supplied large oversized towels as well as a shower cap.
The room really was comfortable and had its own Air Conditioning controls so you could keep it as cold as you liked...or warm, if there was a cold spell in Florida during your stay.
But the best part of all was the Location.
Those wide sandy beaches were a surprise to me after all the storms we have had these past few years, guess they bring in sand from elsewhere, but we enjoy walking this beach and snorkeling in the reef that is close by. The beach is never crowded and the hotel provides nice lounge chairs...you can also pay to do all sorts of water sports including parasailing which are fun to watch safely from land...
Nearby are boat docks if you are interested in sightseeing from the water, one that takes you to see all the huge estates just up the way a bit...
There is a very nice restaurant on the premises, Coconuts on the Beach, an indoor/ outdoor place, perfect for unwinding with a cool drink from the full service bar or to dine on one of the very fresh items on the menu...in the morning they featured a lovely buffet which was served inside but you could bring your meal outside should you wish, which is what we enjoyed doing...they had a long row of seats that look out to the ocean.
One little thing I found interesting were little signs stating that it was turtle hatching season and they asked that you not disturb the little creatures..
The pool was nice, but nothing spectacular, it was heated and always kept very clean and never too filled with people, at least while we were there..a Jacuzzi was off to one side, that seemed very clean as well. There also was a small fitness center near the pool though I didn't use it...my husband did and said the equipment was up to date, nothing fancy though.
Each day we found a newspaper by our door...a perk we really liked.
To sum up I have to say that though the Hilton Singer Island Oceanfront Resort is not very fancy it is certainly well maintained and we would go back in a heartbeat..after staying there twice we never had any negative experiences, only positive and found we really enjoyed ourselves in every way.
The rates are hard to say since they seem to fluctuate so much....we were there during off season and the rate was $125 a night but during high season that doubles...the best thing to do would be to check the website. Or, call them direct, I find its always better to speak to a person to ask about specials, or to request a room with an ocean view that really does have a view.

Next time on the East Coast, I'll have to check this out. Thank you for the review. I think those little cabanas on the beach look like a sexy place to spend at least one night - maybe you could do a review of those (smile)... Enjoy the moment, Michael
