Seeing the Rodeway Inn located right off the interstate, I turned without much thought. I hadn't planned on not making it home that night, but I had to stop. Entering the hotel's office, I asked if they had any rooms available. The lady replied that they did and asked what I wanted. I told her I wanted a non-smoking room with a queen size bed. Having noticed that the rooms are entered from the outside, unlike the Rodeway Inn I stayed at the previous day, I requested a room on the bottom floor so I could park in front of my door. Thankfully, this was available.
Considering it was raining, I rushed back to my vehicle and moved it in front of my room. Entering the room, I was amazed that this hotel was so cheap. The room was the biggest hotel room I've ever been in. Part of what made it big was that the kitchen was a separate room. I didn't have any food with me, so the kitchen wasn't necessary. However, this is a great convenience when you know in advance where you are staying has a kitchen so you can bring food and drinks. It's like a real kitchen. There was a refrigerator, microwave, and a stove. Some things just cannot be prepared in a microwave, making that stove a real convenience.
Some hotels charge for local calls. However, this Rodeway Inn does not. This means that you can go online if you brought your laptop and have a dial up internet service provider. Just be sure that you dial into a local number so you aren't accidentally making a long distance call. They may have high speed internet now.
The room temperature was also perfect in the room. When I stayed there, it was cold and raining. I used to believe that all hotels had perfect heating and cooling until I stayed somewhere that didn't. So, I thought I'd mention that this hotel had my room the perfect temperature.
I only have one complaint about this hotel. When I went to check out, there was no one in the office. Perhaps it was my fault for trying to leave so early. I don't remember the time exactly, but it was about 7:30am. I was very confused as to what to do. If a place isn't going to have staff there twenty-four hours day, then there needs to be a note about what to do with your room key if you need to leave. Not to mention just dumping the key and leaving seems wrong even if you have already paid. Also, they serve a continental breakfast; however, I didn't get to enjoy it. When the lady arrived, she apologized for running behind and mentioned that she still had to setup the breakfast. I told her that I had to leave since I didn't want to get back to Virginia incredibly late at night. So, really, it was my fault that I couldn't have breakfast since I had to leave.
Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay at the Rodeway Inn located in Waterford, CT. This hotel has a very home-like feel to it. It was also very quiet and peaceful, meaning I had no problems going to bed early. I loved this hotel and would recommend it to anyone without hesitation.
