Hotel Rubezahl in Schwanguau, Germany - A Million Dollar View of Neuschwanstein Castle

Sea Shepherd
What an amazing and magical experience it was for my family and I to stay at the Hotel Rubezahl surrounded by the Bavarian Alps. Hotel Rubezahl is an alpine style, family owned hotel in a small village of Schwangau, Germany. The area alone takes you into another world with its serenity and tranquil setting. In fact, Hotel Rubezahl has a direct view of two famous castles, Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangua. These castles were owned by the eccentric King Ludwig II.

The hotel allows you to escape from the tourist crowds that visit nearby Castle Neuschwanstein daily. However, you are only located just minutes away from the castle, which is in the town of Fussen. Schwangua is located at the southern most point of Germany's infamous "Romantic Road". It is easy to take a day trip to Munich because it is about one and half hours away by car, approximately 100 kilometers from Schwangua. If you were to travel to Munich from there; you would go through two of the most quaint towns in the area called Oberammergau which is known for the " Passion Play" and Garmish-Partenkirchen which is known for it's beautiful wood carvings.

Hotel Rubezahl has several types of buildings on the premise, including a restaurant, beauty spa, Roman Thermal spa, whirlpools, etc. They have single and double rooms, apartments, and suites ranging from approximately 55 Euros a person and up. That would be equivalent to about $82.50 per person. Prices do fluctuate depending on the high and low season. We had a spacious suite that included a nice dining area which had ample room for our family of four. Inside all these rooms are adorned with beautiful light pine wood. And there is nothing like sleeping under a feather tick down cover. You won't feel like you are in a hotel but your own home away from home. Nearby, you can enjoy the Crystal Therme", which is just a walking distance away. It has an indoor and outdoor pool including a panoramic view of the two castles.

Breakfast is included in the price and the variety of foods will not have you go away hungry. You can also enjoy some authentic German lunches and dinners.

Besides touring the castles, you can also rent bikes, play mini golf, table tennis, horse back riding, etc.

We really enjoyed just taking a walk while listening to the cow bells from the nearby field ring. Between the beautiful sounds of nature and the majestic surroundings of the Alps, for the small price we paid for this hotel, it was a million dollar experience.
