Overnight Accommodations
Hotel wedding receptions are ideal if many out of town guests are expected. It's convenient and efficient for out of town guests to check into their room and have the luxury of walking downstairs for cocktail hour. Reserving a block of rooms should guarantee a fixed rate per room. Overnight accommodations eliminate drinking and driving because there's no other hotel to drive to when the reception is over. Your guests will have the convenient advantage of walking up to their room for the night.
Coordinator
Hotel wedding receptions usually come with a hotel representative that acts like a coordinator. Your coordinator will work with you on the menu, the reception room setup, and your budget. Basically, she'll ensure things run efficiently during the reception. Don't necessarily accept the initial price per person; keep in mind everything is negotiable. Also, the coordinator alleviates stress because you don't have to plan for all the little things at the reception. The coordinator will be working with the hotel staff, so it's less weight off your shoulders.
Breakfast
Many hotels offer a breakfast for guests. For an additional package, guests can attend a breakfast with the bride and groom. If it fits within your budget, this creates additional time to meet with your guests. Your wedding day will have you on the go and you won't have a lot of time to talk with all of your guests extensively. You can pick up the slack in the morning and join your guests for additional conversation you weren't otherwise afforded the day before.
Extras
Hotel wedding receptions may bring some freebees. The bride and groom may get a free room for the night after the reception. Check with your hotel for stipulations such as guests must book a certain number of rooms in order to get a free night. While you're at it, ask about the availability of a suite. Inquire about getting a free room later on; some hotels may offer this for your first anniversary. In addition, you may get a dinner on the house for the final menu selection.
Personalized Service
Hotel wedding receptions offer a personalized service for the bride and groom because they are the number one guests for the day. Anything from drinks, special food requests, or special accommodations within reason are part of the deal.
