From personal experience I love the fact that this particular area of Glens Falls, NY has the flexibility of choosing an upscale place to stay as the Queensbury Hotel down to a more rustic adventure such as the Alpenhaus Motel. Depending on which type of escapade that you are looking for will determine in which type of place you will want to stay.
The Queensbury Hotel
The Queensbury Hotel in downtown Glens Falls, NY is a historic landmark hotel located across City Park and is often considered as the towns' centerpiece by the locals around the area. It is centrally located to all of the most popular attractions in Upstate, NY such as Lake George, Saratoga, Albany and the Adirondack Mountains. The hotel is open year round and has many amenities to help in a most relaxing vacation. There is an indoor pool with a Jacuzzi. An exercise room is available on the premises. Maybe a spa is what you may have in mind and if so a massage therapist is on site. Best of all is that one of the best restaurants is located in the atrium of this magnificent hotel called "Garden on The Park" which also serves breakfast daily for your convenience. I personally highly recommend this particular place to stay as my entire family stayed there as I had a "Sweet 16" birthday party for my daughter in one of the catering halls located within The Queensbury Hotel. We had a great time and the staff was very accommodating. I believe in total we must have booked 15 rooms and not once did it feel overcrowded. In fact it was just the perfect setting for all and if a relaxing adventure is what you are looking for then The Queensbury Hotel is the place to be. The rates at this hotel are seasonal and rates range from $89 - $175. For more information you can view all the wonderful services on there website at http://www.queensburyhotel.com/main.html.
Sleep Inn & Suites of Lake George
Although this hotel is listed as in Lake George it is actually in the proximity of Glens Falls and Queensbury in Upstate, NY. This has to be one of my favorite places to stay at especially when traveling with young children. The Sleep Inn provides many amenities to make this a very warm and comfortable place to spend a family vacation at. The location again is located nearby the Northway I-87 which leads to Lake George just 3 exits away. As well if going south it will lead you into the Saratoga region. They offer the use of a heated pool, fitness center and a delicious complimentary continental breakfast. I have stayed at the Sleep Inn numerous times and my children have always felt at home. The suites have a hot tub in the rooms which makes this a vacation spot very well worth it. Across the street is a 24 hour Wal-Mart which is very convenient especially when traveling with kids. And right nest door there is a Pizzeria Uno which offers a discount to all hotel guests. Now that is a bargain. The rates range from $84 - $129. Alpenhaus Motel
If adventure and a more rustic vacation are what you have in mind for a stay in the Upstate region then the Alpenhaus Motel is where you will want to stay. The Alpenhaus Motel is located on Route 9 in Queensbury near the Glens Falls area as well, in the heart of the shopping district. It is adjacent to many clothing and shoe store outlets, restaurants, bike shops, and a short drive to the Aviation Mall. It is close to many amusement parks and mini golf courses that are walking distance. The best part is that this is a great place to sit back and relax and enjoy the nature of the Adirondack region. The rates are very affordable for all the local attractions available. They range from $45- $139. For further information there website can be visited at http://www.alpenhaus-motel.com/index.html.
The Glens Falls area in the Adirondack Region is a great and spectacular place to visit. Enjoy your stay!!
