My favorite sling type carrier is the HotSling. They are sturdy, easy to use and oh-so cute! You can wear a newborn up to a toddler in your HotSling, and it's very, very comfortable. Your baby's weight is distributed so evening, shoulder strain is minimal and I've yet to have a backache from wearing my children, even for hours at a time.
I've yet to have my children fuss when they are in the HotSling. Newborn babies feel secure when they are close to their parents and toddlers feel like they are on a ride when they're being worn. In fact, when I pull it out for my baby, my toddler cried to be the one who gets carried!
The HotSling can be used in a variety of ways. For a newborn baby, you can use the Cradle Carry, which is a method that will allow you to tuck baby into the sling, cradled across your chest. This allows you to have excellent use of hands and arms as well as breastfeed easily and discretely.
For slighter older babies, a Front Carry position works well. You simply tuck them into the pouch and their face and arms rest above the top of the HotSling, allowing them to grab things in their path and reach up to hold your hand. Again, both hands are free for lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying; housework becomes easier when you have your baby right there with you.
For larger babies and toddler, you can use your HotSling in the Hip Carry position. Your child sits on your hip, supported around the back and under his bottom by the fabric and you are once again free to use both of your hands. I often tuck my children under my arm after I put them on my hip, in a modified Back Carry position, so they get piggyback ride of sorts. It's really fun for them and I can get quite a bit done.
You can use your HotSling for taking walks, on vacation, when you're shopping or running errands or if your children get fussy. They fold compactly and fit easily into your diaper bag or stroller basket. Having your baby with you also offers many opportunities for baby to learn. They feel safe, content and comfortable when they're with you, so try to wear your baby as much as you can. They can sleep, eat and play while you're carrying them and you honestly will accomplish so much more on a daily basis.
HotSlings range in price from $48.00 to $60.00 and come in a wide variety of patterns and designs. Bright, bold colors and soft, floral prints, you're surely find one you love as there are a bunch of different ones to chose from.
