Hourglass Superficial Lash Mascara Review

A Perfect Mascara

Alexis Valentine
Despite how many reviews I've written on cosmetic products I'm not really big on makeup, that is, I don't wear it often and when I do it's very little. My thing is that I like to try out products, but my favorites are mascaras and lip glosses. For my birthday my boyfriend was sweet enough to get me a gift box set from Sephora of mascara samplers that contained ten different brands of mascaras. Among my samplers was an Hourglass Superficial lash mascara in Carbon. I've worn this mascara every day for about a week now and the following are what I liked and disliked about this particular mascara.

What I liked about Hourglass' Superficial lash mascara was that it's both a lengthening and volumizing mascara. When I first applied this mascara to my lashes I was surprised at how lush, but natural my eyelashes looked. The best part was that there was little to no clumping, and even better no flaking at all. A non flaking mascara is very important to me because I'm a contact lens wearer. If you wear contact lenses you'll know how painful getting something trapped underneath it can be.

Hourglass' Superficial lash mascara contains vitamin E, and is formulated without ingredients like sulfates, synthetic fragrances and dyes, or Phthalates. I really liked this mascara because it has a thin but sturdy brush that coats and separates my lashes perfectly. I can't stand those thick, bulky brushes because I always get some around my eyes and end up looking like a raccoon. I found this mascara dried really quick too, which is great because I hate it when I blink and get mascara on my eyelids. Hourglass' Superficial lash mascara comes in black and brown and is priced fairly standard for being a high end brand, at $26. Another thing I liked about this mascara was that it didn't smudge or smear at all, and it has great staying power. I've never had to reapply once. It also comes off easily with eye makeup remover.

Unless you count paying $26 for a tube of what I consider the perfect mascara expensive, there's really no downside to this product that I could think of. It's not waterproof but it has better staying power than any drug store waterproof mascara I've ever tried.

I would most definitely purchase the full size version of this mascara. I absolutely loved it and it made my lashes really pop. I might actually consider giving up my false lashes that's how great it works. If you're looking for a mascara that does it all, short of being waterproof, then I would highly recommend Hourglass' Superficial lash mascara.
