House of Anubis: The Adults

Who's Who Among the Adult Characters

Eliza Wynn
Nickelodeon's House of Anubis, which premiered in January 2011, is already airing in reruns, giving new and existing fans another chance to watch. With its fairly large ensemble cast, new viewers can have trouble keeping track of everyone. This guide to the adult characters of House of Anubis should help. It is intended especially those just starting to watch the show from the beginning or at least early in the series. Mild spoilers are included, with the final character description containing the biggest one.

Victor Rodenmaar (Francis Magee) rules Anubis House with an iron fist. He hates shenanigans and doesn't take any insolence or insubordination from the kids. He forbids them to enter the attic or cellar, and they have a strict curfew. He is hiding the truth about Joy's sudden departure, and he's obviously part of a major conspiracy. Victor has a mascot of sorts: he is devoted to a stuffed crow named Corbiere. In this case, "stuffed" means that the bird has been preserved by taxidermy.

Trudy Rehmann (Mina Anwar) is the housemother at Anubis House. She looks after the kids by doing the cooking and cleaning. Trudy also gives advice and provides a sympathetic ear. She doesn't seem to be in on the conspiracy.

Sarah Frobisher-Smythe (Rita Davies) is a resident of a home for the elderly. She grew up in Anubis House and believes it's a dangerous, evil place. Somehow, she recognized Nina without having been told her name. Her caregiver at the home calls her "Emily."

Eric Sweet (Paul Antony-Barber) is the head of the school. In addition to running the school, Mr. Sweet teaches biology and tries to dodge Patricia's questions about Joy.

Daphne Andrews (Julia Deakin) teaches French. Mrs. Andrews is about to administer an exam when Joy is called out of her classroom. She seems to be a fair instructor, and she apparently has a soft spot for some of the students.

Jason Winkler (Jack Donnelly) teaches drama and history. He's the substitute for the regular teacher, who is said to have suffered a heart attack. Being new at the school, he doesn't know anything about Joy or her disappearance--at least not yet.

Sergeant Roebuck (Nicholas Bailey) is on duty when Patricia goes to the police station to file a missing person report. He tries to reason with her, but she insists, so he promises to help. Unfortunately, it's a lie; he's in on the conspiracy.

The next (and final) character description contains what is possibly the biggest spoiler in this guide. Although it doesn't reveal a great deal, anyone averse to spoilers should stop now.

Rufus Zeno (Roger Barclay) stalks Patricia, who's afraid she's seeing a ghost. He finally introduces himself as a private investigator and says that Joy could be in grave danger. He asks Patricia for her help.
