House of Darkness

Darla M. Beck
The house of darkness sits upon the hilltop,

it watches over the quiet village below.

At night while the villagers are sleeping,

in its broken windows appears an eerie glow.

Then the peaceful silence is suddenly shattered,

by a strong and fierce wind that starts to blow.

Loose shutters can be heard banging loudly,

the noise disrupting the stillness of the night.

The villagers arise to gaze out their windows,

they are confronted by a very scary sight.

Silhouetted in the windows of the old house,

is something that gives them quite a fright.

Glowing figures appear in the darkness,

dressed in white and floating off the ground.

As the villagers listen in nervous anticipation,

they suddenly hear the most terrifying sound.

The spirits are now wailing out their agony,

for them no escape will ever be found.

Forever trapped inside the house of darkness,

doomed to haunt the place for all eternity.

The ghosts are cursed to roam the hallways,

their lost souls cannot ever be set free.

If anyone dares to enter through the doors,

no longer will they hold on to their sanity.

Very nice. I don't plan to enter there; I have enough trouble holding to my sanity. Thanks for sharing. :)
