Thank you writers for having this episode be about the case for a change rather than just House and Cuddy. It made the sad twist at the end much more effective because I felt like I actually knew the guy and his wife (something that doesn't happen when the patient only gets a few minutes of air time).
The main emphasis of this case, other than the fact the man was dying, is how he lied to his wife about everything from losing his job to running up a massive amount of credit card debt. This, of course, brought criticism from Masters. However, I personally would be criticizing the wife too for not being more involved with the household finances; something that would have helped her notice the changes in income.
Speaking of Masters, I loved that little speech she made about not being able to be in a relationship. Well, duh...look at the people she works with. Chase and Taub failed in their marriages and Foreman failed in his relationship with Thirteen. In other words, she's normal.
That part with House agreeing to go to an awards event in support of Cuddy was actually pretty funny; mostly because everyone assumed he was doing it so he could ruin the event for her.
I also loved the scene where House asked for the Vicodin taken from the patient's office and everyone paused as though he was going to start taking the pills again right in front of them.
Even though, overall, I enjoyed this episode, I wasn't a fan of the ending. I thought for sure we would either see House break up with Cuddy (making fans everywhere happy) or he would drop a bomb shell by announcing he was quitting (something we know isn't really going to be the case but it would at least shake things up a bit). Instead, we got this sappy "I don't care if I'm a worse doctor because I'm in love with you" speech that just made me sick. I really do miss the old House.
