House Episode Review: Wilson

Some thoughts from last night's episode of House:

I have been a bit critical of some recent House episodes but I actually liked this one. It was great seeing Wilson in more than just his quick weekly appearance. We gained some insight into the character and can see he is more than just House's doormat. Compared to other episodes this season, this is one of the better ones.

I especially liked the end of this episode, when he reveals he has been outbidding Cuddy on the place she wants to move into with Lucas. Not only does he care about his friend enough to "punish" his boss for breaking House's heart, it shows he has a dark side to him too.

Speaking of Cuddy, why does she need to move in the first place? From what I've seen of her current residence, it is more than large enough to handle another adult moving in. The apartment Wilson out bid her for actually seems smaller.

Oh, and does she even have a job at that hospital any more? Again, when the show first came on the air, she was an obstacle for House and his team. Now her character really doesn't have much of a purpose (other than a love interest; similar to Stacy in season 2). Wilson tells her he wants to donate a piece of his liver to a patient and she does little to convince him otherwise. In the past, she would have told him she wouldn't allow it and House would have found a way to make it happen anyway.

Did anyone else notice that, after all the effort House went through to get his new team a couple weeks ago, they really didn't have much of a role in this episode? I must have dozed off at one point because I have no idea what happened to the patient they were supposedly treating. Can someone please fill me in on this?
