"House" Go Home and Other Mediocre Fall Shows

House is Getting More Far Fetched as the New Season Airs

Susan Antonelli
House has been on shakey grounds for me for awhile. Coming from a medical family it absolutely drives me to distraction . The idea that a drug addicted, belligerant , abrasive doctor would last 5 minutes in any hospital is beyond my belief system.

The premise that anyone could break into a patients's home to "look for contributing factors " regarding their illness is absolutely unheard of in any profession. Doctors don't even make house calls let alone breaking and entry forays.

The head of the hospital walks around in low, low cut outfits and slips on a lab coat that wouldn't cover my grand daughter. Have you looked around at the staff in your local hospital recently? Unrealistic again.

The completely unethical manners in which House searches for causes of his patients illnesses is totally unbelievable and would never be acceptable in any hospital. I anyone on the writing staff aware of the legalities involved in any of this? Don't they have a team of advisors regarding hospitals?

In the beginning I liked the staff, the little involvements and even House, if I could just look at it as completely comical but it just started grating on me. Now, in the new Fall line up Dr. House has eliminated his staff and is running a survival course for those three empty seats in his little group. House puts a huge group of students through his little tests. They must wear numbers and allow themselves to be treated to his sick sense of humor. House will slowly reduce these students to chosen few except for a few hotties.

I am impressed that House, who is English, does such a flawless American accent but he's wasting good talent in this series..

There are new cast members, Kal Penn from 24, Edi Gathegi from Lincoln Heights, a black Mormon and Olivia Wilde from the Black Donnellys ( a hottie).

With all the really good shows on why can't a hospital based series hold your interest without Mc Dreamies, Mc Steamies, Mc Meanies, incorrigable, excessively unrealistic situations, half naked staff and generally dumb premises? Every theme gets copied and recopied, psychics, dead people (Pushing Up Daisies instead of Ten Feet Under), hospitals (Private Practice, the Grey's Anatomy spin off), legal firms, radio or TV stations (Back To You), Dirty, Sexy, Money and Cane, the new Dynasty/Dallas/Sopranos spin, cops (K-Ville). Oh and superheros (Bionic Woman , Geek Chic, Journeyman) and Reaper (selling your soul to the Devil). There really isn't an original idea in the entire bunch. Most of these are very dissappointing. One more, a new series that is a result of a humorous Geico ad no less, is Cavemen, well that's an original premise and will be a comedy so it might be worth watching. I'm not getting my hopes up.It stars Joel Hedge.

The new season of House show premiered Tuesday Sept 26 on Fox.

Can't believe I missed the premiere. I agree that it is not realistic, but it is amusing.

It is going downhill, but I still hold out hope.

I haven't seen this year yet. Due to time constraints with children and the family, I usually wait till the season comes out on DVD to watch it. I loved the first two seasons. The third was less about the cases themselves, and more about the cast. The cases and the mysteries behind them were really the only reason I watched. I personally think that without the original 3, House will go under soon. Sad thought.

His abrasiveness got to me too sometimes. Still, the writing was clever so I'd watch it for the good lines here and there.
But I agree - it is starting to wear then, isn't it?
