I put my house on the market
I thought it would sell
I shined and I polished it
It looked really swell
I thought it would sell
I shined and I polished it
It looked really swell
The economy went south
The realtor was not worried
I'll use word of mouth
This cannot be hurried
Eighteen months have now passed
My house is still for sale
What can I do I have asked
The housing market is just stale
Changing real estate agents has not helped
Why won't it sell I wail
Lower your price the agents have yelped
It's not our fault if we fail
So still I am waiting
I cleaned and I polished
I feel my nerves grating
My hopes are demolished

Post a CommentIt is true, the housing market sucks for sellers. I disagree with the commenter that is suggesting you change agents again. Sure, there are lazy agents, but most Realtors are knowledgeable and conscientious, and they all have access to the same on-line advertising venues.
I do feel your pain- we have an investment house we bought prior to the market collapse. After 2 years we did the same thing others here did - rented it. That may not be possible for you if you need to sell your current house to buy something else. Good Luck!
Never fear, find a better real estate agent, you hear? I have been there. The house is beautiful and I want it. So, find an agent better. Ask around. :-)
Good luck!!!
We had ours up for about three years, and finally found a nice tenant. She is in seventh heaven with a garage and auto door, jacuzzi, and her own laundry room. We're happy with her and have made the rent very, very affordable. It's better than sitting there empty. I'll be wishing you luck.
Selling a home is so stressful! I'm sorry that it has dragged on so long for you and do hope that the right buyer will come along very soon. By the picture, you have a great place for any buyer to consider. Good luck!
This is very clever. The way you describe the real situation in rhymes is just great!!
I have been trying to sell one in Dayton for years -on again off again, bad economy, no jobs and can't even keep a tenant. Your poem is perfection!
My brothers house has been on the market for several months, the house selling boom has all but gone across here.
I don't know if this will help, but maybe posting a listing on craigslist or offering a rebate might help. Another kind of strange (but from what I understand useful) strategy is to bury a statue of St. Joseph upside down in the back yard. I heard this from a Catholic woman who swears by it. I am assuming that at this point you're willing to try just about anything?
Happy Mardi Gras!
Those who feel (and, in fact, are) secure in their homes need to be counting their blessings these days!
