Household Items that are Good for Aches and Pains

Did you know that if you looked into your pantry that there are items there that can be used for more than there initial intended purpose. So in this era of recession here are some ordinary items that you can use for alternate purposes.

1. Does your cat suffer from ear mites, hunt around in your condiments and pull out the bottle of Wesson Corn Oil, massage a tablespoon of the oil into a cotton ball, and massage the cat's ear. Repeat this action daily for at least three daily, the oil soothes the cat's skin, smothers those nasty mites and helps to accelerate healing.

2. Has it been raining a lot lately in your area and the dog has to have been house bound. You know that odor that your dog gives off, offensive, well a simple cure to this is to take a dryer sheet and wipe down the dog, it not only absorbs some of the moisture that resides on the dog's coat, but gives your nose a break with a fresh springtime aroma.

3. Touched that hot pot too quickly and got a little burn, grab your toothpaste and apply to the area, you will feel an almost instant relief to the initial sting. Remember to look at the burn more in depth after the sting is gone to assess if you require further treatment.

4. I know that when I have the flu or a cold my muscles ache and I feel as if I have been run over by a dump truck. A simple way to relieve those achy muscles is to mix on tablespoon horseradish and 1 cup of olive oil. Allow the mixture to set for approximately 30 minutes then apply it to those sore achy areas, almost instant relief.

5. I know that I have had to one of my children run to me with tears running down their eyes because they have a nasty splinter that has embedded itself in thief finger. There is nothing worse than watching your child cry needlessly. A fast way to remove the sprinter is to grab the Elmer's Glue, let a drop fall on the skin, as the glue dry it adheres itself to the splinter, after the glue has dried gently peel the glue away from the skin, the splinter will follow the glue, remember to kiss the boo-boo and wipe away the tears.

6. The all powerful vinegar, this wonderful item has so many different uses other than as a salad dressing. One such use is to help heal bruises. Soak a cotton wall in vinegar and apply it to the bruise for about an hour. The vinegar reduces the blueness and helps to speed up the healing process.

I have always found that I want to expand the use of my dollar and when I can use items that are already in my house and pantry to use for other uses it helps me stretch that dollar in my time of need. I hope that one of these are of benefit to you.

Really good suggestions...an animal rescue person, I would only caution that some dogs (and cats) are sensitive to the chemicals in dryer sheets.
